ABOUT THE TEAM
Chima Motorsports LLC is a short track race team located in Connecticut and founded by Ike Chima. The team currently competes on a full-time basis in the Street Stock division at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl. The team’s goal is to increase its competitiveness, build relationships with race fans, and introduce new race fans and businesses to the world of motorsports. Chima Motorsports looks forward to bringing attention to the great short track racing that the New England region has to offer.
ABOUT THE OWNER & DRIVER
Ikechukwu “Ike” Chima, the founder of Chima Motorsports LLC is originally from Yonkers, NY and currently lives and works in New London, CT. Ike Chima has an extensive background in engineering with an associate in engineering science, a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering and a master’s in engineering management which was driven by his passion for racing. He started his racing career in August of 2021 after years of waiting for an opportunity to get behind the wheel. After completing two races in the 2021 season, through a rental program at Stafford Motor Speedway, he saw vast improvements and decided to purchase his own racecar to compete in the Open Street Stock division at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl for the 2022 season. Using his engineering background and knowledge he started Chima Motorsports LLC and fielded a racecar on a part-time basis in 2022 then full-time in 2023 and 2024. Relying on his engineering background he made steady improvements throughout the seasons and finished 10th in points with four top 10s in the 2023 season and a career best 7th in points with twelve top 10s and three top 5s in 2024. He is looking forward to making even bigger strides in performance in the upcoming 2025 season.
